I am always a huge fan of Acai bowls especially considering the nutritional benefits. I like how its a cold dessert, how its so easy to assemble. An Acai bowl is really all I want whenever I need a boost of vitamins or health! In this post, I will teach you how to assemble your own bowl and the things you can consider when making it!

I shall summarize what I do know of Acai bowls in point form, and speaking from my own experience!

1) Heat-related issues.

Acai itself is usually purchased in the form of a frozen purée that can immediately be used by itself or for other recipes. Meaning, it will melt really easily if you live in a hot climate (as easy as ice-cream!).

As such, it is paramount that you will have to work fast in assembling these bowls or re-freeze them.

I would usually have prepared all the toppings, including the slicing of the fruits, prior to scooping out the purée for assembling. That allows immediate eating right after placing your tops!

Should you be spending a lot of time getting the best insta-worthy picture, do consider re-freezing the bowl for the duration of about an hour! However, please do not re-freeze it for too long as the fruits will certainly be less appetizing after which!

2) Sourcing for Acai

You can usually find Acai in the frozen section of stores or online grocers. They do come in different flavours too, such as ready-made ones with the infusion of berries. Should you be living in South-East Asia, you can feel free to shoot me a message and I can let you know where I get mine from!

Despite the ready-made ones, I usually recommend the base Açaí puree if you are looking to try out different recipes. You can always add the other flavours yourself and modify it according to your own liking!

3) Toppings!

Later, I will be sharing a simple assembly of mine. I do have an Acai smoothie bowl recipe too but it is not ready to see the light of the world yet!

I always choose to top with fruits, granola and a nut sauce and I find the balance wholesome! However, do take note to not use too sugar-rich toppings as it will defeat the purpose of this nutritious Acai bowl! Açaí Bowl Assembly

Packed full with vitamins, an Açaí Bowl is sure to kick start your day right and boost you with the nutrients you need!


  • 200g Açaí purée
  • 1 Ripe Banana
  • 1 Kiwi (Fruit, not the bird!)
  • A few blueberries
  • A spoonful of shaved / desiccated coconut
  • A dollop of Almond Butter Sauce
  • A spoonful of granola
  1. First, slice the fruits until they are bite-sized.
  2. Then, transfer the purée to a large bowl.
  3. Finally, you assemble. Easy!
