Nothing like the light and delectable aroma of a French Pear Cake! This French Pear Cake comes with the fragrance of pears with hint of butter and vanilla. As this cake consists of ingredients with cleaner flavours, I used ingredients of higher quality for them to come together!
Before I dive in to a further introduction of the French Pear Cake, I have good news to share. This cake is really easy to make, requires just one mixing bowl and is almost foolproof. You will mainly be mixing ingredients for this recipe. However, do execute each step well such as coating your pears with flour to ensure the pears won’t sick!
Now, let me tell you why you should make this French Pear Cake. Apart from how easy it is and how accessible the ingredients are, this cake is really versatile and fits all occasions. I had it for breakfast with coffee. Then, there were also a couple of days I had it with tea, with cream and jam! Finally, they also make a good dessert to go with ice cream after dinner. It’s really difficult to go wrong especially with how light and fragrant this cake is.
I will not yak any further, and I hope you do make this cake! Without further ado, here’s the recipe.
By the way, if you’re interested in the plateware I feature here, I got it from Luzerne Singapore!
French Pear Cake Recipe
by Javier Tan December-13-2023
This delectable, light and fluffy French Pear Cake fits all occasions. Have it for tea with cream or ice cream for dinner, it’s your call!
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup + 2 Tbspns or 130g of Granulated White Sugar
- 1/2 Cup or 120g of Butter, Melted (Or 60g melted butter, 60g flavourless veg oil)
- 2 Large Eggs, 55g ea. inclusive of shell weight
- 1 Tsp or 5ml of Vanilla
- 1/2 Cup or 120ml of Milk, Room Temp
- 2 – 3 Medium-Sized Pears, Sliced into small cubes / wedges (Adjust according to personal preference)
- 2 Tbspsn of Lemon Juice (optional, to mix with pear to prevent browning and some tartness)
- 1 and 1/2 Cup or 180g of All-Purpose / Plain Flour
- 1 and 1/2 Tsp or 6g of Baking Powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees C and line your baking tray with parchment. I am using an 11 inch x 4.5 inch tray, you can consider using an 8 inch square, or 8 inch round too, though they will bake quicker.
- Firstly, peel the three pears and chop to small cubes or wedges. I coated them with lemon juice to prevent them from browning (optional).
- Next, whisk together the cooled melted butter and sugar.
- Then, whisk in the two eggs and vanilla, and then mix in the milk.
- Sift and whisk in the flour and baking powder.
- Pour the batter into the baking tin and hit it against the counter for a couple of times to dislodge excessive air bubbles.
- Bake for approx. 42 – 46 minutes or until golden brown (you are likely to take less time for a tray with a bigger surface area, let me know if you’re unsure!).
- In the meanwhile, prepare your toppings such as whipping cream and jam.
- Serve and enjoy once it has been removed from the oven, or you can store it for later!
