About time for me to add another savoury recipe to my collection, the Spinach Ham Quiche! Quiches form part of French cuisine and can be said to be a savoury tart! Upon the rich dairy base of cheese and milk, I added smoked ham and spinach to make my Spinach Ham an amazing dinner dish!
Part of me always wanted to explore cooking since it is more practical at times to prepare meals. However, the balance of flavours doesn’t come easily to me and as such, I thought it would be better to explore savoury bakes first.
I am a huge fan of this Spinach Ham Quiche because of how each ingredient contributes to a really scrumptious dish. The slight sweetness of the spinach blends with the smokiness and saltiness of the ham. Built on the background of melted cheese and milk and seasoned with pepper, it tastes just like pizza but might even be better!
Although preparing for this Spinach Ham Quiche can be straightforward, do note that it can be time consuming too. This is especially so since some time have to be allocated for preparing the pie crust (though you can definitely buy pre-made ones!). Nonetheless, it is still a worthy dish that you will definitely be proud to present for a meal. A sweet crust is used for this recipe and it could be a presonal preferece, do adjust the sugar content accordingly to your liking!
I also had a lot of fun assembling it especially in arranging the toppings. However, the bulk of the spinach and ham (or other toppings) should be more or less covered by the liquid mixture. Otherwise, they might face the possibility of overdehydration (or even burnt!).
I have included a picture of my pre-assembled quiche before baking too, I find it to look really good! Without further ado too, the recipe!

- 1 and 1/2 Cup or 180g of All-Purpose / Plain Flour
- 2 Tablespoon or 30g of Granulated White Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon or 15ml of Milk (might need to add 5ml more if crust is dry)
For Filling:
- 3 Large Eggs, weighing approx 60g each incl shell
- 3/4 Cup or 140g of Shredded Cheese of your Choice
- 1/2 Cup + 3 Tablespoons or 150ml of Milk
- 4 Cups or 120g of Spinach, finely chopped
- 40-50g of Ham, or up to your choice
- 1/2 Tsp or 2g of Table Salt (to taste)

Instructions
- First, assemble the crust by creaming the butter and sugar together. Then add the milk and stir before folding in the flour to form a ball of dough.
- Then, transfer the pastry dough to refrigerate for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 180 degrees C and oil or butter up your pie dish.

- Then, bake the pie crust for about 20 minutes and removing it when it turns golden brown. Leave it to cool for 5 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix the eggs, milk, salt and pepper together until it forms a single mixture.
- To assemble the quiche, place the cheese first. Then, add the ham on top followed by the spinach. Finally, pour in the egg milk mixture.
- Turn down the temprature to 160 degrees C and bake for 50-55 minutes or until the filling is golden brown and the pie crust is pulling away from the mould.

Hi Javier, I realized you have added 30g sugar, may I know if this can be omitted or is there a reason for adding sugar even is a savory tart. Thanks : Cherry
Hi Susan! Thanks for checking out the recipe. It can be reduced but suggest to add at least 5-10g for a contrast against the savoury filling 🙂 Hope that helps!

Are u using full cream milk for the qiche?
Hey Angela, apologies for the late reply and thank you for the clarification. I am using full cream milk but skimmed milk works just as well!
