Ever thought of creating your own Pokemon cafe experience? I was super keen to do so especially after visiting the Kyoto pokemon cafe, and of course, nothing stopped me especially with my loot of Pokemon merchandise.

Hence, presenting to you my Pikachu Pancakes, served with warm oozy chocolate filling. Of course, this comes with a glass of milk in a pokemon-themed glass!

The making of these Pikachu Pancakes require a special hotcake mould that you should be able to find in Pokemon Centres. Thereafter, I filled it with my favourite pancake recipe (attached below) with lots of chocolate chips at the centre.

I really enjoyed the entire experience of heating the pancakes in the mould through direct heat. In doing so, I really felt the full experience of being a street food store or pancake maker! Thereafter, I was careful to flip the pancakes and to check in every other 30 seconds or so to ensure that it doesn’t burn. Unfortunately, one of mine did get burnt because I overheated on one side.

Thereafter, it was the assembly. I served my pancakes with a mix of sweets and savouries including smoked salmon with dill, strawberries and honey. All of these ingredients go really well with the chocolate-filled pancakes, and enhance the entire experience. For a start, the honey drizzle was to die for, and makes such a great dip for the strawberries too.

Overall, this is a really good way to spend a weekend, and you will definitely impress your family members and friends! For the actual product, you can refer to the last few seconds of my video.

Without further ado, the recipe.

Pika Pika, are you a huge fan of pokemon-themed food? Make your own delicious, chocolate filled Pikachu Pancakes at home with this recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/3 Cup or 150g of Plain / All-Purpose Flour, Sifted
  • 1 Tbspn + 2 Tsps or 30g of Granulated White Sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 Tsps or 6g of Baking Powder, Sifted
  • 1/4 Tsp or 1.4g Table Salt (Optional)
  • One Large Egg
  • 3/4 Cup + 1 Tbspn or 200ml of Milk
  • 1 Tsp or 5ml of Vanilla Essence
  • 2 Tbspns or 30ml of Melted Butter
  • + Extra melted butter for greasing pan (total I melted 60ml inclusive of the 30ml for pancakes)
  • Approx 80g of Dark Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  1. Mix together your dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt).
  2. Then create a well in the centre and pour in egg, milk, vanila, and melted butter.
  3. Whisk it together until it achieves a single consistency and set aside for 10 minutes.
  4. On medium heat, coat the frying pan with butter and place your pancake batter in and you can adjust the shape of the pancakes. I used approx 4 tablespoons of batter. Thereafter, place a handful of chocolate chips at the centre and cover with slightly more pancake batter.
  5. Cook the pancake at medium-low heat for about 3 minutes on one side, and another 1.5 minutes on the other side. Make sure to check periodically.
  6. Then, set aside to cool for approx. 5 minutes before serving with powdered sugar and honey. This is to prevent your sugar from melting!
  7. Serve and enjoy.
