I’ve grown up and always love Pizza Hut’s personal pan pizza. Not only is it nicely buttery with crispy sides, it is nicely cheesy with comforting tomato sauce that is sure to uplift a dull day. Hence, it was only eventual for me to come up with this Copycat Personal Pan Pizza recipe.

Similar to Pizza Hut’s, it’s fragrant, buttery and nicely soft with a bit of a chew. Furthermore, for full authenticity, I used cheeses from the USA for this Copycat Personal Pan Pizza! While sharing the recipe, I thought to share my verdict for this too.

This Copycat Personal Pan Pizza recipe is designed to be as delicious as it is simple (and yes, very delicious, very simple). As per any dough based recipe, this requires kneading and proofing. However, to make it more straightforward, it is possible to hand knead this dough, and it requires minimal steps from start to cheesy, melty completion.

Here are some tips that would help!

  • Prepare the concept in advanced
Think about the toppings you would like to go onto this Copycat Personal Pan Pizza. This includes the type of tomato base, cheeses and other toppings. Without a doubt, the benefit of baking this fresh means you have full control of how to customise this. Furthermore, do think about the type of pan you would like to bake this in! For myself, I got an oven friendly deep pan, similar to those used in Pizza Hut.For myself? Smoked salmon!
  • Hand Kneading
I know hand kneading can be intimidating for a beginner, and trust me, the one here is really straightforward! Simply press, pull the dough away from you, fold it back and do this repeatedly. This will help develop the bread gluten structure, and I like to do it for at least 5 – 7 minutes or until the dough is no longer sticky.Nonetheless, and if you want to save some elbow grease, consider using a hand held mixer with dough hook attachments.
  • Portioning
This Copycat Personal Pan Pizza recipe creates sufficient serving for just one person, just like Pizza Hut! Consider multiplying the recipe accordingly if you would like to make more pizzas. Of course, this is subjected to my appetite (Haha!).

I thought to include my verdict here as well: This Copycat Personal Pan Pizza is equally delicious, buttery and nicely melty. However, it does require 1.5 hours of time (including the hour waiting to proof). So it’s up to you to decide whether to bake it or buy it, and whether you prefer fresh or fast!

Without further ado, the recipe and the video guide.

Bake it or buy it, with this Copycat Personal Pan Pizza that is equally delicious and buttery with that iconic meltiness of cheese!

Ingredients

Pizza Base

  • 1 and 2/3 Cup or 220g of Bread Flour
  • 1 Tbspn + 1 Tsp or 20g of Caster / White Sugar
  • 1/2 + 1/4 (total 3/4) Teaspoons or 5g Instant Dry Yeast
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Salt, to taste (I used 2g)
  • Approx. 1.5 Tsps – 1 Tbspn of Rosemary Leaves (Alternatively, Oregano)
  • 1/3 Cup or 60ml of Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Cup or 120ml of Water
  • Up to 2 Tbsps of Melted Butter, for Coating

Pizza Toppings (To taste)

  • Tomato Base (I used Ready Made)
  • Cheese (I used Cheese from USA, for authenticity and flavour)
  • Bell peppers (Chopped finely)
  • Smoked Salmon, in slices

Instructions

  1. Firstly, mix the dry ingredients (bread flour, sugar, salt, rosemary, oregano, yeast and black pepper). The yeast should be placed far apart from other ingredients especially the salt.
  2. Next, create a well in the centre and pour in the water and olive oil.
  3. Knead for about 2 – 3 minutes until all ingredients come together. Rest the dough for 10 minutes
  4. Subsequently, knead the dough for another 5 – 7 minutes on medium-speed until dough is sticky and can form a ball (I hand kneaded)
  5. Coat your oven friendly pan (I am using 6-inch round) with olive oil and transfer your dough in. Spread the dough evenly to form an even layer.
  6. Cover and proof for about 1 hour or until the dough is about 2x its original size. Nearing the last 5 minutes, preheat your oven to 180C.
  7. Assemble your pizza with the toppings. I started with a tomato base, followed by cheese and other toppings!
  8. Bake the pizza until puffed up and golden brown or for 12 – 14 minutes. I cranked it up to 200C for the last 2 – 3 minutes for it to be more golden.
  9. Serve and enjoy! If preferred, you may reheat at 160C for 4 – 5 more minutes with more cheese.
