Oftentimes, we would always like to cut up our cakes and brownies just like how we want it when we break our relationships. A CLEAN CUT 😈.

Also, oftentimes, that is difficult to achieve in both our relationships and in our baked goods. But fret not because after reading this post, you will have one problem less! I am going to teach you how to have a clean cut in relationships ( just joking, I am really incapable of those ).

I will be teaching you how to make a clean cut in your baked goods such as brownies and cakes without leaving those disgusting but yummy crumbly beats and crumbs, to make a perfect picture!

They are really simple and these are the following steps:

1. Let your baked good cool completely.

I let them cool for about 1-2 hours in the tin that I baked them in. Whenever it’s hot, the baked good is definitely crumbly and has not set completely. If you’re impatient, you can speed it up by using an an electric fan like what I did or the fridge.

Tip: If set in the fridge, please do use an aluminium foil or parchment paper to cover the baked good. If there are any steam emitting from your mixture, it will condense on the fridge surface and it might enter your baked good. No matter how clean your fridge might be, I will still find it disgusting!

2. Heat up a pot of cold water. A sauce pan works well here!

Heat it till it’s boiling and then turn it off.

3. Prepare a serrated knife.

Being a really clumsy person, I don’t dare to use really sharp knives. Like what if it drops on my feet, oh gosh! 😰😰😰

So using a blunt metal knife it still worked for me.

4. Cutting the brownies / baked goods

Dip the knife in hot water, wipe it with a towel ( I used a kitchen towel ). Then slice it from the edge. Do not use a zig zag motion. Just a clean one time cut. To make the next slice, repeat the whole process of dipping the knife in hot water and wiping it with a towel. The next step will be to chant “Thank you, Javier”. Okay just kidding, that would be totally creepy 😝 .

I feel that it might be time consuming to follow all these steps and you would definitely have to control your desire to sample these food. But personally for me, It’s completely worth it.

This is especially so when we are always sharing these food. I am sure people receiving your baked food will appreciate it regardless of how it’s sliced but hey, why not impress them one step further? Cause I am a good baker yo 😎.

Do let me know if there are other baking tips you would like to know and I am always here to receive your feedback!
