Nothing bonds people better than food, and what’s more, homemade bakes! As an avid baker who often bakes during the weekends (as I am working full-time during the weekdays), I like to bring some of my weekend bakes with my colleagues.

For this weekend, I brought my Bakery Style Raspberry Crumble Muffins alongside Double Chocolate Chip Milk Bread to share. It always bring me joy to brighten up the Monday blues for them, and for a good start to the week. Naturally, I paid some attention to make this Breakfast Box presentable as well including a nice box, and my own branded stickers. In fact, the presentation of my Breakfast Box was so natural and convincing, my colleagues thought I bought them on my way to work!

Fun fact about these breakfast bakes as well is that I rarely place any stickers, but a well-prepared one always seal the look. If you’re looking to get good quality stickers that are easy to stick and lasting, you can consider SingaPrinting!

Apart from fostering closer ties with my colleagues and also because making them happy makes me happy itself, here are some reasons I bake for my colleagues too!

  1. The personal touch – nothing beats homemade bakes, especially if they’re curated and customised to your colleagues’ tastebuds. For example, I tend to make my bakes less sweet for my older colleagues who are watching their waist lines!
  2. Interpersonal relationships – preparing food for my colleagues teaches me more about their likes and dislikes. For example, who is a chocolate lover or who is on a keto diet! I wouldn’t have been so clear about their dietary preferences otherwise.Furthermore, sharing a hobby makes for a great conversation starter with colleagues!
  3. Contributing to a warm and friendly workplace – I am a firm believer that a good workplace is not just up to Human Resources (HR) but also up to individual colleagues and team members like ourselves. Sharing food, for sure, always bring warmth to the workplace!

Are there any downsides of baking for my colleagues? I could certainly think of a couple!

Firstly, it’s always so easy to run out of bakes and some may feel excluded. For instance, and in the shoes of any home bakers, we don’t usually bake in large batches. This is due to our limited time and resources, and it takes much more effort to mass produce (also a sacrifice in quality). As such, I do always feel sad when I run out!

Secondly, the transport. It’s not easy to bring the bakes around especially on a crowded train while lugging your belongings and laptop. Hence, I always have to be a body shield to the bakes to make sure that they still arrive in one piece when I reach work.

What about you? Would you bake for your colleagues?
